Warrant

The Warrant application stores and maintains information related to arrest warrants, temporary protection orders, and attempts to locate. Law enforcement agencies and courts can enter new warrants or search for existing warrant information. Data pertaining to the warrant is entered on a master screen and additional warrants can be attached to the original record. Officers may also clear and cancel existing warrants.

Due to the high volume of warrant attachments, an automated process was created to reduce paper handling for both police and court staff. When a judge issues a warrant, the data is entered into the court’s CLIP system, which automatically transfers the information to the Warrant system for review by law enforcement personnel. Minimal user intervention is required when forwarding appropriate entries to LEADS and NCIC. The warrant remains active in the system until it is served. The process is called “paperless” because the warrant is printed out only when served.
